尼伯特颱風襲台，中部地區雖未感受到明顯風雨，但台中市和平區有42條土石流潛勢溪流達黃色警戒，新佳陽、松茂部落及天輪里進行預防性撤離百人；梨山地區一棵路樹不敵強風而倒塌，扯斷電線桿，壓到高麗菜園；海線地區農民也搶收稻穀超過300公頃。

尼伯特暴風圈過境梨山，福壽山通往華岡地區福壽路，8日中午，一棵路樹被強風吹倒，往台電電纜線壓去，扯斷兩根電線桿，橫倒路旁高麗菜園。目擊民眾說「電網有如金鐘罩，蓋住菜園，幸好沒通電。」台電表示，獲報後即時轉供電源，未造成民宅停電，斷桿已派工移除。

目前正逢一期稻作成熟，台中市海線地區8日上午僅飄小雨，農民不敢放颱風假，紛下田搶收稻穀。

大甲、大安與外埔區農會統計，搶收稻米超過300公頃，每百台斤收購價約1280元，如搶收不及，造成倒伏報銷或泡水發芽，農民半年心血就白費了！

由於台中市區昨天白天幾乎無風無雨，中市公車各路線自上午10時起逐步恢復營運。民政局表示，和平區因42條土石流潛勢溪流已達黃色警戒，陸續進行預防性撤離達百人，新佳陽及松茂部落撤離90人，分別安置到燕華樓大旅社及梨都大旅社；天輪里天輪巷撤離11人，由民眾自主依親。

台中市消防局指出，台8線梨山（85K~110K）路段，因道路入夜後視線不良ｍ，及公路沿線可能發生災情，已於前晚8時進行預警性封閉，後續將視颱風天候狀況及道路實際災情，再行決定開放時間。
